How An Automotive Education Helps You Jump Start Your Career

Matthew Eldridge was the 2015-2016 winner of the TADA Automotive Service Technician Co-op Award at Centennial College in Toronto, Ontario.
Winning a TADA award shows that TADA and the staff and administrators at Centennial are really dedicated to making sure students achieve success in their studies. I feel that my time spent at college has really helped launch my career, and I am very thankful for the assistance the school and its donors provide to students.
The TADA scholarship has greatly helped with the initial costs of working in the automotive trade. While it can be expensive to get started, it's worth it since the tools are with you for life.
I am currently working at Pfaff BMW in Mississauga. This is the same shop that I did my placement in, and the TADA apprenticeship program really put my foot in the door since I had no prior experience.
My favourite memory of my time at Centennial is probably the time spent in the transmissions class. Being able to take them apart and see how they work hands-on was an eye-opening experience that I probably would not have had going straight into the workplace.
